The part, which has to be ordered, is easy to install. Rather than push the installation on me he suggested I could save money and do it myself. Garbage Disposal Replacement & Installation

Not every disposal is worth fixing. When one can be saved, we repair it; when it can’t, we replace it the same visit when possible — and we install new garbage disposals in homes that have never had one, or when you’re upgrading to a quieter, more powerful unit. We do this across Northern Virginia, from Warrenton and Gainesville to Reston, Woodbridge and Alexandria.

Repair or replace?

A jammed disposal that hums, won’t turn on or drains slowly is usually a repair. A unit leaking from the body of the housing, badly rusted, or more than about 10 to 12 years old is usually a replacement — a cracked housing can’t be resealed. Our technician tells you which it is before any work begins.

What installation includes

We remove the old unit, mount the new disposal to the sink flange, reconnect the drain and the dishwasher drain line, connect it to the existing switch-controlled outlet or wiring under the sink, and run water to check for leaks before we leave. If there’s no power under the sink yet, you’ll need an electrician to add it first.

Choosing a new disposal

Most homes do well with a 1/2 to 3/4 HP unit; larger households and heavy cooks benefit from 3/4 to 1 HP, which grinds finer and jams less. We install and repair InSinkErator, Waste King, Moen and other major brands.
